Men’s and Women’s South-American Club Championship Schedules Released

The South American Volleyball Federation has announced the schedule for the 2018 South American Club Championship for both women’s and men’s clubs. The women’s tournament will be held in Belo Horizonte, Brazil from February 20-24. The men’s competition will be hosted in Montes Claros, Brazil from February 27 to March 3.

Women’s Competition

Six teams will participate in the women’s competition: Brazil’s Camponesa/Minas and Sesc/RJ, Argentina’s Boca Juniors and Gimnasia Y Esgrima La Plata, Bolivia’s Club Universitário San Simón, and Peru’s Regatas Lima. Sesc is the current tournament champions, and will be defending its title with Camponesa/Minas as its only serious opponent, as it has been o the tournament’s latest editions, dominated by Brazilian clubs (Brazilian teams have won 30 out of 38 editions of the tournament).

The teams are divided into two groups:

2/24 Saturday
Bronze Medal Match – Losers of Semis 1 x Loses or Semis 2
Gold Medal Match – Winners of Semis 1 x Winners of Semis 2

Men’s Competition

As for the Men’s competition, it will run between February 27 to March 3. Again, we will have 6 clubs divided into two pools. They are: Brazil’s Sada/Cruzeiro and Montes Claros Vôlei, Argentina’s Personal Bolívar and Lomas Voley, Peru’s Club Peerless, and Chile’s Thomas Morus. Cruzeiro is the current champion, as Argentina’s UPCN will be its biggest threat for the title.
