The 2017 CEV Women’s European Championships are nearly underway and all of the players competing are ready to play. This could not be truer for Serbia’s captain Milena Rasic.
“I am pretty excited because it finally starts. It was the competition that we were waiting for all summer,” said Rasic.
The Serbians have found much success this summer after competing in the FIVB World Grand Prix, where the team took first in preliminary play but finished in third place overall ahead of China, the Netherlands and the United States. At the competition, Rasic put down 39 points in the team’s third-place finish during the final six, making her the third best scorer for the Serbians behind Brankica Mihajlovic and Tijana Boskovic.
“We have young, yet amazing players, we have been working hard and the most important, we are motivated to give 100 percent in this competition,” said Rasic.
The Serbian will square off against the Czech Republic to start off the championship, followed by the Netherlands and Belgium before playoff matches begin.
