After three seasons at the helm and two season as an assistant, NCU head volleyball coach Kelly Pitre has announced her resignation, effective immediately.

Pitre gave birth to her first child in December and has made the decision to spend more time at home with her family. She said, “My departure from NCU is bittersweet because the last five years have been a great learning opportunitiy and the group of young women returning to this program have changed the culture for the better, but it is time to focus on my family.”

Pitre spent three seasons as the head coach for the Beacons, and in that time became NCU’s second winningest coach in program history. Her 2015 team posted a winning record and while she was never able to make the postseason, the team did finish sixth in 2016.

Athletic Director Corey Anderson said, “I want to thank Kelly for the time and leadership that she has given to NCU volleyball over the past five seasons as an assistant and head coach. The core values that Kelly exemplifies for her teams over these years has been appreciated and valued by her student-athletes, fellow coaches, parents, and administration.

“While NCU hasn’t achieved all of their goals on the court, it is definitely one of our programs that is ascending in that direction. What Coach Kelly leaves behind is far from a bare cupboard. Much of our experience and leadership returns to the net for the 2017 campaign. This program will continue to grow in an upward direction thanks to the foundation that Kelly was able to re-establish and strengthen.”

Pitre said, “I have been blessed to work with such a great group of people in athletics and admissions. They have taught me so much about coaching. The group of incoming freshmen and returning players are incredibly talented and I am looking forward to what they will accomplish for the 2017 season.”

A comprehensive search for a new head coach will begin immediately. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Corey Anderson: [email protected].
