North Dakota State University head women’s volleyball coach Jennifer Lopez today announced Drew Davis has joined the staff as an assistant coach.

“I am very excited to be welcoming Drew as a new addition to our Bison family,” said Lopez. “His work ethic, passion, and knowledge of the game are going to be a great fit for our volleyball program.”

Davis comes to the NDSU program from Creighton where he served as a volunteer assistant for the Bluejays. Creighton compiled a 26-7 record overall last season including a 16-2 in the Big East. The Bluejays won the Big East regular season and tourney championship, and hosted the first round of NCAA tournament. Creighton beat Coastal Carolina, but fell to Michigan State.

“I cannot thank head coach Jennifer Lopez enough for this amazing opportunity to continue my coaching career,” said Davis. “NDSU has the qualities to continue to be a successful program, and it is the family-like culture and competitive spirit of this University and athletic department that I’m so glad to be a part of.”

Davis began his college career at Erskine College in Due West, S.C., before completing his career at Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. As a senior, Davis played in 19 matches and 61 sets, recording 113 digs, 97 kills, 25 blocks, nine aces and eight assists for the Saints.

A native of Ashville, N.C., Davis graduated from Limestone College with a bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in coaching.

North Dakota State finished the 2017 season with a 19-9 record including 9-5 in the Summit League. The Bison advanced to the league tournament semifinals for the ninth time.
