Ladies in Black in Achen has announced in its official website the signing of Madison Farrell to its squad. The 22-year-old 6’2″ middle blocker, who has just turned professional after graduating from Northwest Nazarene University (DII), is the third American player signed by the team this summer, the other two being Kristan Degeest and Taylor Agost.
Farrell excelled at Nazarene, closing out her senior season averaging 4.7 points per set on 51.4% hitting and 1.37 blocks per set. Here are her first words as a professional:
“I chose the Ladies in Black because it gives me a great opportunity to play at a high level and get better as a player. I only heard great things about this club and the coaching staff and it seemed like the best place for my first professional season. My goals for this season are to give the LIBs another successful season and make myself a better volleyball player. The squad is full of talented players and I’m thrilled to be playing with them soon. I’ve traveled a lot, but never been to Germany. I look forward to learning more about the people of Aachen and the surrounding areas. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to be here.”
Farrell will find a Ladies in Black squad that finished its 2017-2018 Bundesliga season in 5th place with a 12-8 record before being bounced-off the playoffs in the semis by Stuttgart.
