Former Ohio State 6’2″ middle blocker Taylor Sandbothe has signed a professional contract to play with RC Cannes in France, she announced on her Twitter account.

The team is historically the most dominant in the French league, having won 18 consecutive national titles until falling to St-Raphael last season. They are also the winningest team in the history of the Top Volley International tournament, with 6 titles; and are twice champions of the CEV European Champions League.

Midway through this season, though, they sit just 6th in the league table, with only 4 wins in 9 games played.

Sandbothe finished her career at Ohio State as the career leader in total blocks, which she broke midway through her final season with her 518th, which she eventually extended to 564. She was also the team’s leading offensive player, with 3.83 kills/set and a .315 hitting efficiency percentage. She was named a VolleyMob Second Team All-American for her work on both sides of the net.

After winning their first two games of the season, including an opening 3-2 victory over the defending champions from St-Raphael, RC Cannes has been out-blocked in each of their next 7 matches this season. That includes a thumping 23-9 margin in favor of Beziers in a 3-2 loss last week.
