French club Pays d’Aix Venelles has announced in its website the signing of Lindsay Dowd. The 5’9″ setter, an UC Davis alumni, is transferring out of Germany’s Ladies in Black, and is set to undergo her third professional season, having also spent time in Switzerland and the Philippines right after graduating.
Here are her first words as a member of her new team:
When it came time to choose my home for the next season, I wanted to be sure to make a good choice for myself and the club. I believe that the coach’s philosophy is very much in line with mine especially in terms of team dynamics and attitude. I like the fact that Felix is a serious coach, with whom I can not wait to start working with. We are good contender for the title this season. The location of the club is also more than ideal. For a Californian who is far from home 9 months a year, I think the best thing is to find place that with 300 days of sunshine a year. Finally, what ended up convincing me was the research I did on the club, the championship and the way of life, which fits with my own philosophy. My goal this season is to contribute the victory of a league or cup title. I can not wait to be there and start working towards those goals.
At Venelles, Dowd will join a club that finished its 2017-18 season in 6th place, before being knocked out from the first phase of the playoffs by Mulhouse. She will be third American in the team, as it has also recently signed former Penn State star Abby Detering and LSU alumni Haleigh Nelson.
