Ater their bronze medal finish in last season’s PlusLiga, Jastrzebski is well on its way to another playoff war this season. The team currently sits in 6th place in the competition’s standings with a 15-11 record and has recently beat 4th placed Onico Warszawa 3-1, a direct playoff oponent, and a team to which Jastrzebski had lost their two previous encounters. The victory breathed optimism into the squad (Siatka.org):
Our fans helped us to be aggressive. I saw on the faces of rivals that they had a problem with adapting to play in such an atmosphere. Practically during the whole match we exerted pressure on Warsaw. This victory allowed us to get closer to them in the standings and opened up a chance of overtaking them, which is extremely important. It is a nice reward and it is always nice to be noticed, but even more pleasant was the victory of the whole team and the fact that we won three valuable points in a difficult match against a very demanding rival. During the game, both teams made a lot of mistakes, but ultimately we tilted the scales of victory in our favor. We have not lost faith in our ultimate goal.” – Jason Derocco
Jastrzebski should be able to go 4-0 in its last games of the season, as they will face 10th placed Katowice, 12th placed Espadon, 13th placed Bedzin, and last placed Kielce in their last match ups of the regular season.
