Recently promoted to Italy’s A1 league, Cuneo has announced in its official website the signing of Belgian national teamer Lise Van Hecke to its roster. The 6’3″ opposite, who is transferring out of Pesaro, has also had professional stints in her home-country, Brazil, and Turkey. She won an Italian scudetto in the 2013/14 season with Piacenza. Lise has been a staple in Belgian national teams since her youth days, collecting many titles and accolades along the way.
Here are her first words as a member of her new team:
“I am very happy to arrive in Cuneo. I can not wait to experience the atmosphere of a city used to breathe the air of great volleyball. It will be at the same time a difficult and interesting season, in a league with no shortage of elite teams and high-level players. This is why I enthusiastically accepted Cuneo’s challenge, where we will have to make the most of the magical atmosphere of our palazzetto. I cannot wait.”
At 3.73 points per set on 33% hitting, Lise had a down year last season, even though Pesaro achieved a decent 7th place finish in the league. Will she bounce back with her new club?
