Rose-Hulman Brings In Rachel Sellari As New Head Coach

Rachel Sellari has been named head volleyball coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, effective January 15.

Sellari comes to Rose-Hulman with playing experience at the NCAA Division I and Division III levels, along with coaching experience at the NCAA Division III and NAIA levels.

Sellari spent the 2017 season as assistant coach at DePauw University under long-time head coach Deb Zellers.  The Tigers finished 20-8 overall this fall, reaching the NCAA Division III Tournament and the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship match.  She coordinated logistics for home matches, assisted in practice planning, and composed scouting reports and game plans at DePauw.

Sellari spent the two prior seasons as assistant volleyball coach and wellness center coordinator at Presentation College in South Dakota.  Her career also includes six years of club coaching experience, including spending the 2014 season as varsity coach at Summit Christian Academy in Cedar Park, Texas.  She has recently served as a coach for the Crossroads of America Club located in Terre Haute.

Sellari’s career path includes playing experience from the University of Texas at Arlington (NCAA Division I) and Southwestern University (NCAA Division III).  She competed at Texas-Arlington in 2009, before completing her playing career and earning a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at Southwestern.  Her efforts helped Southwestern rank No. 1 nationally in defense and earn consistent national top 15 team rankings.  She competed on 2010, 2011 and 2012 teams that qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament at Southwestern under the direction of head coach Hannah Long.

Sellari inherits a Rose-Hulman volleyball program that finished 20-12 during the 2017 season and reached the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the second time in program history.  The Fightin’ Engineers are projected to return 12 players for the 2018 season, highlighted by first-team all-HCAC selection Bailey MacInnis and honorable mention all-league honoree Katie Orbeta.
