Rutgers Hit The Road Facing Iowa, Indiana

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Rutgers women’s volleyball team is set for a week of rematches with Iowa and Indiana. The Scarlet Knights first travel to Iowa for a midweek contest on Wednesday, Nov. 16, before returning home to host Indiana on Sunday, Nov. 20.

RU’S LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers (4-25, 0-16 Big Ten) dropped two contests on the road at Ohio State (3-0) on Friday and Maryland (3-0) on Sunday. Despite the loss to UMD, RU registered its best hitting percentage of the season against a conference foe.

Senior right side Lauren Cloyd led RU in kills for the fourth consecutive match, posting her most kills (12) in a Big Ten match this season against the Terrapins. Freshman middle blocker Jasmine Stackhouse has posted five or more blocks in eight contests this season, including five against UMD. Freshman setter Megan Sharkey posted 23 assists at Maryland, which was three shy of her career best.

SCOUTING IOWA

Iowa (18-10, 8-8 Big Ten) enters the week on a three-match losing streak. After a win over RU two weeks prior, the Hawkeyes went on to drop matches to No. 11 Penn State (3-0), No. 1 Nebraska (3-0) and Purdue (3-1).

Loxley Keala sits at third in the league with 11.21 assists per set. Annika Olsen joins in the standings at fourth in digs per set (4.18).

The Hawkeyes claimed a three-set victory over the Scarlet Knights on Nov. 4, as Iowa improved to 4-0 in the all-time series.

SCOUTING INDIANA
Indiana (16-13, 5-11 Big Ten) picked up an upset of No. 22 Ohio State in four sets on Nov. 5. Since then, the Hoosiers have fallen to No. 17 Michigan (3-0) and No. 1 Nebraska (3-0).

Jazzmine McDonald ranks third in the conference with a .381 hitting percentage. Allison Hammond sits at seventh in the rankings with 3.41 kills per set.

In the first meeting this season, Rutgers earned a first set victory over Indiana before the Hoosiers rallied three straight for the win. IU holds a 7-0 lead in the all-time series.
