A day filled with Conference Carolinas action came to a close with three sweeps, as (RV) King, Mount Olive and Erskine were all victorious on the day.

Each win had its own boost to it, as King moves into first by itself for the time being in the league while Mount Olive scooped up a non-conference victory over a the only non-league team to play today. The third match, Erskine, was notable because it gave them their first win of the year and shuffled the standings at the bottom.

(RV) King Def. North Greenville 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-13)

The Tornado started the night in a three-way tie with Mount Olive and Barton. Not only does this victory keep them atop the table (with Barton off and Mount Olive playing out of conference), but it pushes their winning streak to seven – and 21 sets. Offensively they clicked to the tune of a .324 night with 12 kills on a .579 mark from Jeff Sprayberry while their defense was started by 11 aces to keep North Greenville out of system. If they continue to serve like that, they should continue to roll in the Conference Carolinas.

Mount Olive Def. Coker 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-21)

Coker really struggled in their serve game with one ace to 13 serve errors. That represented their inability to keep Mount Olive out of system too, as the Trojans hit a blistering .423 for the match. Bret Rutledge (13 kills, .500) and Robert Poole (11 kills, .286, seven digs, three aces) led the way for Mount Olive with Jeff Yasalonis (37 assists) facilitating it all in an impressive effort.

Erskine Def. Limestone 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-16)

In a battle among Conference Carolinas teams at the bottom of the standings, Erskine not just rose up for the win, but did so for the first time this season. First and second contact reigned supreme, as they notched more aces, blocks and kills in an overall strong performance.
