The #10 ranked BYU Cougars are showing that they deserve their high ranking, completing their second road sweep of the week, this time dominating the host Dons of San Francisco. Set scores were 25-18, 25-22, 25-8. Setter Lyndie Haddock had a strong overall match with 34 assists, 10 digs and 7 blocks, while Veronica Jones-Perry and Taylen Ballard led the BYU offense with 14 and 10 kills respectively. Libero Mary Lake led the defense with 15 digs. BYU improves to 13-1(2-0 WCC) on the year and will return to action on September 26th when they host Pepperdine.

BYU dominated every major category of the match, out hitting the Dons .320 to .073 (43 kills to 32), out blocking them 13-7, and out digging USF 47-40. Each team collected three aces.
Erica Ronda led the Dons with 10 kills, but had 11 hitting errors on the match as she hit -.027. Erin Anthony dished out 25 assists while collecting 7 digs and 3 blocks. The Dons drop to 3-12 on the year and will return to action when they travel to Saint Mary’s on September 26th.

SAN FRANCISCO – The outside hitters helped push No. 9 BYU women’s volleyball to a sweep of San Francisco (25-18, 25-22, 25-8) Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Gym.
“I liked our offensive distribution today and am proud of the way the entire team was ready to play,” BYU head coach Heather Olmstead said. “I think our blocking is getting better, so I was happy to see us get great touches.”
Veronica Jones-Perry led the Cougars with 14 kills while Taylen Ballard and McKenna Miller added a career-high 10 and nine kills, respectively. Mary Lake collected 15 digs and Cosy Burnett had eight kills and five blocks. Lyndie Haddock set the team with 34 assists in addition to adding 10 digs and seven blocks to tie her career high.
A pair of kills from Jones-Perry helped BYU (13-1) to a 6-3 advantage over San Francisco (3-12) early in the first set. Back-to-back Don attack errors extended the lead to five at 11-6. The Cougars were ahead 15-8 before San Francisco went on a 6-1 run to get within two, down 16-14. BYU countered with a 4-1 rally to get back up by five, 20-15. Cosy Burnett then ended the set 25-18 on a kill.
Consecutive blocks from Haddock and Burnett pushed the Cougars to a 4-1 lead to start the second set. The Dons then rallied with a 5-0 run to take a 7-6 advantage, but a Jones-Perry kill helped push BYU ahead again at 15-12. San Francisco evened the score at 18-all, keeping things close for the remainder of the set, but the Cougars won 25-22 on a Jones-Perry kill.
Three kills from Ballard helped BYU take a 5-2 lead to begin the third set. Two Jones-Perry aces extended the Cougars lead to double-digits at 14-4, and BYU cruised from there, taking the set 25-8 on a San Francisco attack error.
The Cougars return home to the Smith Fieldhouse Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. MDT, to face Pepperdine. The match will be televised live on BYUtv and simulcast on BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143. Links to live video and stats can be found on the BYU women’s volleyball schedule page.

THE RUNDOWN
SAN FRANCISCO – In week one of West Coast Conference play, the Dons faced their two toughest opponents of regular season play. On Saturday, two days after falling to No. 17 San Diego, the Dons (3-12, 0-2) were swept by No. 9 BYU (13-1, 2-0) at War Memorial at the Sobrato Center. Although they sustained two losses, the young squad was able to make adjustments and show improvement.

STATS OF THE GAME
- Freshman Erica Ronda led the team with double-digit kills (10). Out of 15 matches, this marks her 10th match with 10-plus slams. The Arizona-native also had one service ace and eight digs. Ronda continues to lead the Dons with 152 kills in the season.
- Starting setter Erin Anthony tallied 25 assists, two kills, one service ace, three block assists and seven digs. With a .257 attack percetnage, Anthony has the best attack percentage on the roster for the year.
- Senior Nora Buvarp-Lavik registered a .278 attack percentage with seven kills. She also had one ace.
- Libero Sabrina Blackwell recorded 14 digs. She leads the team with 153 digs on the year.
- Laura Leap provided the defense today with three block assists and three solo blocks. The Cal transfer has 30 block assists and 20 solo blocks, 50 total, to lead the Dons for the season.

The Dons will travel to Saint Mary’s for a quick trip to play the Gaels on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. They return from Moraga that night to prepare for the Portland Pilots on Thursday.
