TCU Adds Two for 2018 Season, Including Loyola (Md.) Transfer

FORT WORTH, Texas  – TCU Director of Volleyball Jill Kramer added two more student-athletes to the 2018 class with transfer Ashley Kozer and incoming freshman Ashley Wehrstein joining the program on Wednesday.

Kozer, a 5-foot-8 setter, will join the Horned Frogs after spending her freshman season at Loyola Maryland, while 5-foot-5 defensive specialist/libero Wehrstein helps complete the incoming class. The duo join fall signees élan McCall (6-0, OH, Rouse, Texas) and Katie Clark (6-3, MB, Arlington, Texas) for the 2018 signing class.

“The addition of Ashley Wehrstein & Ashley Kozer, rounds out the incoming 2018 class nicely and gives us necessary depth at the defensive and setter positions,” Kramer said. “They are also outstanding teammates and will add to the culture of our TCU volleyball family in a very positive way.”

5-8 | S | Archbishop Hoban | Norton, Ohio

2017 Season (Freshman at Loyola Maryland): Appeared in 29 matches and 105 sets in her first season … started the last 20 matches of the season and led the team with 698 assists and 6.65 assists per set … dished out double-digit assists in every match except for one … recorded a season-high 45 assists against Bucknell on Nov. 4 … also totaled 18 service aces on the season including a season-high two on four occasions … picked up 225 digs on the season with double-digit digs in 11 matches … was able to record a season-high 18 digs against George Mason on Sept. 16 … totaled 11 double-doubles on the season … put down a total of 59 kills on the season including a season-high seven on two occasions … also finished with 20.0 total blocks on the year … named Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice (9/18, 10/16).

 

High School/Juniors: Four-year varsity volleyball player in high school, graduating from Archbishop Hoban in Akron, Ohio, in 2017… played her final three years at Archbishop Hoban after prepping her freshman season at Our Lady of the Elms … hit .248 with 190 kills and 192 digs as a senior in 2016, earning All-District First Team honors … was an All-District Second Team performer in 2015 when she had 186 kills, 195 digs and 57 service aces … helped Archbishop Hoban reach the regional finals where it lost to the eventual state champions as a sophomore in 2014, earning All-District honorable mention in the process … played club volleyball for Academy Volleyball Cleveland and earned All-Tournament honors at the Girls’ Junior National Championship in 2016 as part of the Division 17 USA.

High School/Juniors: Letterwinner at Keith Country Day School under head coach Jordan Haverly … helped lead the team to a 2014 1A State Championship … named to the Northeastern Athletic All-Conference Team in 2015 and 2016 … 2018 Ultra Ankle JVA Watch list … earned the President’s Education Award in 2014 and 2015 … garnered the 2018 Young American Award … named the Keith School Super Student and was a member of the National Honor Society … earned the Keith Country Day Aide Award in 2017 … also earned two letters in soccer.
