Brazilian middle blocker Thaisa Daher and Turkish club Eczacibasi have reached an agreement for the early termination of the athlete’s contract, according to Melhodovolei.com.br. The two-time Olympic gold medalist joined the club after the 2016 Olympic Games. After a very successful start with the team, Thaisa suffered one of the most gruesome injuries in recent volleyball memory. She returned to Brazil for recovery and was loaned to José Roberto Guimarães’s Hinode/Barueri. Although some media channels speculated that she wouldn’t be returning to Turkey after her successful recovery, she only recently spoke about the matter, throwing a lot of shade at the way Eczacibasi handled her injury:

“Playing abroad was an excellent experience. I got to play in a very tough league with foreign athletes from different cultures. The way the club managed my injuries was the only drawback. But that is in the past now. The important thing is that I am fighting to come back even stronger and that I learned a lot with all that has happened in the last year. I feel safer staying in my country, next to my family, my doctors, and my phisyotherapists to get back to my best shape possible.”

Thaisa is currently training with Brazil’s extended VNL roster in hopes for a full recovery aiming at this year’s FIVB World Championship.
