University of Nebraska head coach John Cook announced on Friday that Tiani Reeves will leave the Nebraska volleyball program to join the track & field squad.
In high school, Reeves was a 5-time Nebraska state champion in the long jump and triple jump at Gothenburg High School. As a senior in Class B, she long-jumped 18’1.75″and triple jumped 38’7.75″ for a state title double. She also finished 5th in the 200 meter dash, with a prelims best of 25.93.
Her long jump would rank her 5th so far this season on Nebraska’s track & field team, and her triple jump best would rank her 4th.
In volleyball, the 6’1″ Reeves played as a reserve outside hitter for Nebraska. She redshirted her first year at Nebraska and saw limited limited action as a redshirt freshman last season. In total, she played in 3 sets across 2 matches, recording 1 kill on 5 swings and a dig. She should have 3 seasons of track eligibility, unless she finds her
“My time with the Nebraska volleyball team has been nothing but a dream come true,” Reeves said. “None of that would be possible without my teammates and coaches. I know they will have continued success and I am eternally grateful for my two years with the team. Nebraska is the best place to be for every sport, and I’m excited to be able to still represent the University with a different jersey.”
She is one of two players announced by Cook to be leaving the program on Friday – Brooke Smith will transfer and continue her college volleyball career elsewhere.
