Turkish Women: Beylikduzu Post First Two Wins In League

Rounds four and five of the 2017/18 Vestel Venus Sultanlar Ligi has concluded with three teams still remaining unbeaten after five total matches – Eczacibasi Vitra, Fenerbahce and VakifBank.

Having a big week was Camerously Beylikduzu Vol. Iht. as they downed both of their opponents in five sets. These two wins were the first for the team of the season and brought them out of last place in the league to #10. After a strong start, Galatasaray had a tough schedule in rounds four and five, taking on VakifBank and Fenerbahce.

Zhu Ting posted strong numbers for VakifBank this week, with 17 points in the team’s three-set sweep over Galatasaray and just two in the team’s five-setter over Nilufer Bld. Lonneke Sloetjes was another strong factor in the team’s wins with a total of 31 points over the two wins along with Kelsey Robinson against Nilufer with 16 points.

Polina Rahimova put down 20 points for Fenerbahce in their three-set win over Besiktas and another 10 versus Galatasaray.

For Eczacibasi VitrA, Tijana Boskovic picked up right where she left off this summer by putting down huge numbers for her team. Against Nilufer, Boskovic put down 20 points while Rachael Adams added in another 12 while Boskovic added in another 10 points versus Ilbank.

Having a strong week was Camerously Beylikduzu Vol. Iht. as they took down both of their opponents in gritty five-set battles. Ceren Kestirengoz led the way against Seramiksan with 34 points while Jana Kulan added in another 23. Against Bursa B. Ana Lazarevic posted 20 points while Kulan and Kestirengoz recorded 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The top three in the rankings remain unchanged after round four and five of play, while Galatasaray fell back to #6 after losing two straight matches. Bursa B. slid up into the #4 slot from #7 after a 1-1 weekend split.
