BUFFALO, NY – Fourth-year head coach Blair Brown Lipsitz has announced the upcoming slate for the 2018 University at Buffalo volleyball season, which will include a challenging non-conference schedule to begin the year.

For the second straight season, the Bulls will begin the year by hosting the UB Invite the weekend of August 24-25.  The Bulls will bring Niagara, Seton Hall, and North Dakota State to Alumni Arena for the season-opening tournament.  UB’s first match will be on Friday, August 24 at 10am against Niagara.  Buffalo will then face Seton Hall that night and will close out the weekend against North Dakota State at 12:30pm on August 25.

The Bulls will then hit the road for the next three weekends to close out non-conference play, beginning on August 31 at the Cornell Invitational, where the Bulls will meet the host Big Red, as well as matches against St. John’s and Siena.  The following weekend, UB will head down to Fayetteville, AR for the Arkansas Classic.  Buffalo will open with Big Ten foe Northwestern on Sep. 7 to begin that weekend and on the following day they will face Arkansas and Butler.

The Bulls will then close out the weekend in the nation’s capital where Lipsitz will see a family opponent in her alma mater, Penn State.  The Bulls will begin the weekend playing American, the host team for the tournament on Sep. 14 and then on Sep. 15, UB will face perennial national powerhouse Penn State at 1:30pm and they will close out the weekend against Howard.

UB will return to Alumni Arena on Friday, Sep. 21 as it begins Mid-American Conference play by hosting Bowling Green.  The opening weekend will conclude against reigning MAC regular season champion, Miami, in Sep. 22.

The Bulls will then go on the road for seven of the next 10 matches as their only home matches in October will be against Ball State (10/6), Eastern Michigan (10/19), and Central Michigan (10/20).  However, the final month of November will be friendly to UB with three of the last four matches at home, including three matches at Alumni Arena in a seven-day period against Kent State (11/2), Ohio (11/3), and Akron (11/8).  Buffalo will close out the year at Toledo on Nov. 10.

The 2018 Mid-American Conference Tournament will be held on the campus of Miami University from Nov. 16-18.
