U.S. & Brazil Fill Country Quota Matches Prior To Moscow Event

The FIVB World Tour event in Moscow began today with five country quota matches for pairs from Brazil and the United States. The $175,000 event will officially begin on Wednesday with men’s and women’s qualification rounds.

The tournament will then begin with the opening round of the main draw on Thursday, followed by elimination matches on Friday and Saturday, leading up to Sunday’s finals.

There were three Brazilian and two United States country quota matches, featuring both men’s and women’s pairs. The winners of the matches move onto the main draw of the tournament.

  • Emily Day/Brittany Hochevar (USA) def. Lane Carico/Caitlin Ledoux (USA) 2-0, (21-16, 21-15)
  • Billy Allen/Stafford Slick (USA) def. Sean Rosenthal/Trevor Crabb 2-0, (21-19, 21-18)
  • Pedro Solberg/Guto Carvalhaes (BRA) def. Geroge Wanderley/Vitor Felipe 2-1, (21-16, 16-21, 15-11)
