UCLA’s Micah Ma’a Garnishes AVCA Player Of The Week Award

This weeks AVCA Player of the Week, UCLA’s Micah Ma’a took the honors after he led the team to a .464 hitting percentage.

The Bruins swept each of their opponents this week, #7 UC Irvine and UC San Deigo, and remain #2 in the men’s AVCA top-15 weekly coaches poll. This is the 21st time in program history at UCLA that a student-athlete has earned Sports Imports/Player of the Week honors, the last being Mitch Stahl who took the award last season on January 12.

Against UC Irvine, Ma’a hammered down eight kills on a career-best .800 hitting percentage, also recording 17 assists, seven digs and three aces. Then turned around versus UC San Diego and handed out 21 assists, six digs and three aces – while boosting the teams hitting percentage to .557, the program’s highest.
