2018 NORCECA U-21 Championships

The United Stated is starting their effort to retain the title of continental champions against Nicaragua on Monday, August 27th in La Habana, Cuba.

The United States decided to go with lineup consisting primarily of players from Stanford University. Jaylen Jasper, opposite and a member of the NCAA All-Freshman Team, headlines the lineup. Kyler Presho, a middle blocker, and J.P. Reilly, an outside hitter, are the other starters from Stanford.

Garland Peed of UCLA is handling the duties at libero for the United States. Devin Joslyn of Loyola is starting at the other outside hitter position. Joe Kelly of Princeton is running the offense at the setter position, and Sam Lewis, a Trojan from USC, is also starting at middle blocker.

Jasper got out of the gate quickly for the United States. In a tight first set where the lead rarely got larger that 1 point for either team, he put away 4 kills and a block before either team reached 20 points.
