After nearly 20 years as the Senior Director of Indoor Events and High Performance for USA Volleyball, Tom Pingel‘s position has been eliminated.

The move is under the directive of Jamie Davis, who was named USA Volleyball CEO in January 2017. Among other initiatives Davis announced his intentions to create a domestic professional league in the United States shortly after his hire.

Below is a statement from USA Volleyball regarding some reorganization efforts, which brought about Pingel’s departure.

USA Volleyball announced this week an organizational restructure to more efficiently align its operations with its Path to the Podium initiative. A new role, Senior Director National Teams, has been created which will oversee all aspects of the National Team Programs (Beach, Indoor and Sitting disciplines) with the ultimate goal of achieving international competitive success at the highest levels. Furthermore the Senior Director will oversee USAV’s High Performance and Coaching Education departments creating a linear path for grassroot athletes advancement up to the Olympic and Paralympic programs.

“A result of this restructure is the elimination of Tom Pingel’s role as the Senior Director, High Performance & Events. Tom was the first hire in the HP department and today we enjoy a healthy athlete pipeline due to his efforts. I want to thank him for the 20 years of service and contributions that he has made to USAV.”
