UTBA’s Valentina Diouf Goes Down With Injury In Win Over Team Monza

Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio’s second-leading scorer, Valentina Diouf went down with an injury in the team’s win over Saugella Team Monza. Diouf scored 14 points in the match but was forced to exit play early due to her injury. It is uncertain the extent of the injury at this point or how long it will keep her off the court.

It was the third leg of the Samsung Galaxy Volleyball quarterfinals, to which the winning team would advance to the semifinals.  UYBA finished in 4th place this season in the league while Monza was the 5th ranked team. The two squared off in two matches to which they split, forcing the third match to be placed.

Diouf’s 14 points led the court in points scored while Alessia Gennari and Michelle Bartsch finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

On the year, Diouf has posted 378 points on the year that includes 343 kills on a 39% hitting percentage. She sits behind just Bartsch who has recorded 403 points for the year.

Up next, UYBA will take on Igor Gorgonzola Novara in the semifinals of the league. Novara has been on a hot streak this season as they are the #1 ranked team in the league with a 17-5 overall record. The semifinal matches will take place on March 31 in Novara with the second match in the series to be played on April 7.
