Hisamitsu Springs Kobe defeats Bangkok Glass

Hisamitsu rolls past Bangkok in three sets, 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 in Pool B.

To lead Hisamitsu, Miyu Nagaoka put down a commanding 18 kills and Yuki Ishii added another nine kills in the win.

For Bangkok, Thi Ngoc Hoa Nguyen had eight kill and three blocks.

Hisamitsu’s win was only the second in the history of the competition, when last year they took down eventual gold medalists Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul.

Eczacibasi VitrA Istanbul fights to defeat Rexona-Sesc Rio

VitrA Istanbul advances to the semi-finals with a five set victory over Rexona-Sesc, 25-27, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 15-11) in Pool A.

Tijana Boskovic led the way for VitrA Istanbul with 20 kills, seven blocks and one ace. American Jordan Larson-Burbach put down 11 kills and four blocks, while Tatiana Kosheleva added 12 kills and two blocks.

Monique Marinho Pavao led all players with 22 kills, while Gabriela Braga Guimaraes added 14.

Volero Zurich narrowly escapes defeat against VakifBank Istanbul

Volero takes a five set victory over VakifBank, 25-22, 27-25, 16-25, 12-25, 16-14 in Pool B.

Remaining unbeaten, Volero handed VakifBank their first lost of the championship. Olesia Rykhliuk led the way with 24 kills and five blocks. Dobriana Rabadzhieva added seven kills and four aces.

VakifBank’s Ting Zhu put down 24 kills, three blocks and four aces. Milena Rasic recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 10 blocks, while Lonneke Sloetjes added 12 kills.

Pomi Casalmaggiore sweeps PSL-F2 Logistics Manila

Recording their second win of the championships Pomi took down PSL-F2 Logistics Manila in straight sets, 25-19, 25-15, 25-21 in Pool A.

Pomi started off the match on a 5-0 run, until Lindsey Stalzer of the USA scored on the attack.

Valentina Tirozzi put down 11 kills for Pomi, and Lucia Bosetti added nine kills, four blocks and three aces.

Alyja Daphnie Santiago recorded 10 kills for Manila, while Stephanie Niemer and Stalzer each added eight.
