The FIVB World Beach Tour event in Rio was the first major event to return to the city since the 2016 Olympic Games. The event may not have been held on the same sands as the Olympics, but it did not disappoint.

Reigning Olympic champions Bruno Schmidt and Alison Cerutti took the men’s side of the bracket – showing that playing at home is an advantage. On the women’s side, the same advantage proved to be true as well, with Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda ‘Duda’ Santos Lisboa winning.
