2017 USA VOLLEYBALL CUP – WOMEN’S

In game 1 of the 2017 USA Volleyball Cup on Sunday, the Americans, at near-full strength for the first time this summer, were dominant, sweeping Brazil away 3-0. While the U.S. welcomed a number of their Olympians back for that tournament, it was Annie Drews, a 6’4″ outside hitter and former Purdue Boilermaker, who stole the show with 18 points to lead all players in the match. Drews is a newcomer to the National Team, but after winning the MVP award for the Puerto Rican national league last season, she’s one of the fastest-rising names in American volleyball.

On Tuesday, the Americans and Brazil will renew their rivalry back in Anaheim at 7:30 PM Pacific Time (10:30 PM U.S. East Coast Time, 11:30 PM Rio Time).

The first matches of the tournament were not available to watch live anywhere, though USA Volleyball did post the videos on YouTube after the matches (see those here).

Tuesday’s second match is not available in Brazil (that we’ve found), but will be available for American fans to watch. The match will air live on the cable NBC Sports Network
