2017 WORLD GRAND CHAMPIONS CUP

Brazil has now lost two straight matches at the World Grand Champions Cup and will look to recover the losses against winless Korea.

This will be the fifth encounter between the two squads at the tournament, with Brazil not dropping a set in the first four meetings. The two teams most recently squared off at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, where in the preliminary round, Brazil won in straight sets.

Brazil’s two match losing streak is not the first at the World Grand Champions Cup, but they have not ever lost three in a row. They have lost three matches in the competition in 2001 when they finished in fourth place, their worst finish at the event ever. The last time that Brazil lost four matches in a row at a large international event was the 2007 World Grand Prix where they lost four in a row. Brazil’s Tandara Caixeta ranks third overall in points with 62 on 52 kills, six blocks and four aces.

Korea has yet to win a set this year in the competition, as they have suffered sweeps against Team USA, Japan and China. Despite the unsavory start, Jaeyeong Lee has put up 37 points for the Koreans to rank 10th overall.

You can watch the video streamed below on the FIVB YouTube page, or the matches will be aired on The Olympic Channel.
