Italy took down France on day four of the World Grand Champions Cup, while Team USA is looking to build themselves back up to boost their positioning in the competition.
The Italian team has been a strong force in the tournament so far, going 3-1 and has three players scoring in the top-ten. Luca Vettori has posted 81 points for the Italian side on 68 kills, eight blocks and five aces. Following behind Vettori is Filippo Lanza and Oleg Antonov with 72 and 59 points, respectively. Vettori had a monster match against France, putting down a match-best 24 points on 22 kills, one block and one ace.
Italy will need to have all three players on fire in tonight’s match to pick apart the American squad that has the potential to do big things.
Matt Anderson has been the driving force for Team USA, with 74 points on 59 kills, six blocks and nine aces. Anderson’s serve is one of the toughest in the competition – matching that of Italy’s Antonov, who also have nine aces. Aaron Russell is the next best scorer for Team USA, having put down 42 points while Taylor Sander has added another 40.
