Tim Doyle, who has spent the last four years as an assistant coach at VCU and was named to the AVCA’s 30 Under 30 List in 2017, is set to guide the William & Mary program into the future as the ninth head coach in school history.

“Tim Doyle is a rising star in the volleyball coaching community and the perfect fit to lead our program at this time,” Athletics Director Samantha K. H0uge said in the announcement. “During the interview process, Tim clearly articulated a vision for how he would build and sustain a successful program at William & Mary. He has been part of high-achieving programs during his coaching career and has a proven record of recruiting and developing student-athletes. Most importantly, Tim brings a commitment to building a culture that promotes academic achievement, success on the court, and developing the complete person. I am excited to welcome him to the Tribe family.”

In his tenure at VCU, the program went 80-47 and advanced to the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament each season. His charges earned 11 Atlantic-10 Conference and two AVCA All-Region honors. In 2017 ,the Rams went 30-3 and posted a 27-match win streak en route to A-10 regular season and tournament titles and their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2005.

“I’m humbled by the opportunity and thrilled for the future,” Doyle said. “I’m thankful for the chance to represent such a prestigious institution like William & Mary and I am grateful to Samantha and her staff for their confidence. It’s a dream come true to take this step in my career, and I can’t wait to work with the women and get the ball rolling.”

Doyle started his collegiate coaching career as a volunteer assistant with the Ohio State men for two seasons. The 2010 Ohio State alum began coaching with the Vanguard Volleyball Club’s 16U Boys Regional squad, with whom he worked from 2011 to 2014.
