It is the 13th week of the NCAA volleyball season, with a large set of players earning conference awards after their strong performances.
A few notables come from this year’s freshmen class, as Wisconsin’s Dana Rettke has now earned her eighth Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. Two weeks again, Rettke surpassed Minnesota’s Samantha Seliger-Swenson’s mark of six Freshman of the Week honors when she gathered her seventh honor, so now, Rettke is continuing to pad onto her historic freshman campaign. From the Big 12, Baylor’s Yossiana Pressley picked up her third straight Big 12 Offensive and Freshman of the Week honors. Without the team’s star-studded Katie Staiger, Pressley has made a huge mark on the Bears squad that upset Kansas this past week. Pressley is the only freshman to earn four offensive honors and three straight in the Big 12, along with her record three-straight double awards.
Missouri State’s Lily Johnson has made a splash this season in the Missouri Valley Conference, with her sixth Player of the Week honor and the 15th of her career. Johnson has been a strong feature for the Bears this season, having recorded her 2,000th career kill earlier this season.
