Hood will join the Red and White this fall upon graduating from Morris Community High School. The four-year volleyball letterwinner also earned a letter in both basketball and softball. Hood set the MCHS record with 1,707 career assists and 162 aces across her prep career.
Spanning her junior and senior high school campaigns, Hood collected a pair of All-Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference recognitions, including a first team nod. Additionally, she earned a spot on the Joliet Herald News All-Area team following each of her final two prep seasons. Hood helped the Maroon and Gold to a 2016 regional championship as the team advanced all the way the sectional championship.
Ashley is the daughter of Chuck and Marcy Hood and has three siblings, Timothy, Carley and Hayley. Her mother, Marcy, was a setter for Aurora University.
In the classroom, Hood maintained high honor roll status throughout her high school career. She plans to major in nursing and looks to continue her education following her time on The Hill to become a nurse anesthetist.
WHY SHE CHOSE WKU:
“Right when I walked on campus I fell in love; the coaching staff and players were incredibly welcoming and I knew this was the perfect fit for me.”
HUDSON ON THE ADDITION OF HOOD:
“We are thrilled to add Ashley to our 2018 roster. She is a tremendous competitor and flat out winner. I love the fact that she is a multi-sport athlete, which has allowed her to grow and develop athletically in many ways. Ashley’s ability to set as well as play defense at a high level makes her a very valuable piece of our program moving forward.”
