Western Kentucky’s Alyssa Cavanaugh picks up this week’s Conference USA Player of the Week honors. Also being honored this week are Rice’s Grace Morgan and Madison McDaniel along with Charlotte’s Sydney Rowan.
Player of the Week
Alyssa Cavanaugh – Western Kentucky – senior
Cavanaugh helped Western Kentucky to their 30th straight conference win this week. She posted 24 kills as the team topped South Mississippi in three for an average of 8.00 kills per set. This feat tied for fourth-most in a three-set match this season. Additionally, she hit for .476 in the match and added two aces.
Defensive Player of the Week
Grace Morgan – Rice – sophomore
Morgan blocked 1.62 balls per set this week as Rice won against Florida Atlantic and FIU. Against Florida Atlantic, she posted eight blocks, three digs and 16 kills on a .615 hitting percentage. In the team’s win over FIU she posted another five blocks and 12 kills in the win.
Setter of the Week
Madison McDaniel – Rice – senior
This is McDaniel’s seventh C-USA Setter of the Week honor after posting two double-doubles this week. Against Florida Atlantic, she dished out 50 assists and picked up 12 digs while adding another three blocks and four kills to her tally. McDaniel recorded 36 assists, 19 digs, five kills and three blocks in the team’s sweep over FIU.
Freshman of the Week
Sydney Rowan – Charlotte – freshman
Rowan helped Charlotte to their lone conference win this week posting 18 kills for an average of 4.5 kills per set on a .500 hitting performance while adding 14 digs, two blocks and three aces. This is the second weekly honor of her career.
