Agatha/Duda downed the top seeded and fellow countrywomen, Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes in a quick 29-minute sweep 2-0, (21-12, 21-12). This has not been a good tournament for the #1 ranked women’s pair in the world, as they started pool play with a 0-2 record, but finding some momentum on day three as they powered through the Round of 12 and Quarterfinals. The third match of the day wore on the pair, making it easier for Agatha/Duda to perform better.

The Brazilian winners will take on the reigning champions Ludwig/Walkenhorst who downed Sarah Pavan/Melissa Humana-Paredes 2-0, (21-15, 21-14). The pair served tough at the Canadian pair, putting Humana-Paredes under pressure in the back court.

“It’s a long season and we’ve had a lot of physical problems, but being able to play here in front of fans helps us a lot to keep going,” said Walkenhorst.

The finals will take place on Saturday, August 26 on court 1.
