Each year, the NCAA honors teams earning Academic Progress Rates in the top 10 percent of their respective sports.

More than 1,200 teams from 312 Division I schools were honored for their academic achievements over the last four years. Of the honorees 1,188 of the 1,284 received perfect APR scores of 1000.

“I applaud every program earning a Public Recognition Award this year for their commitment to going above and beyond to prepare students for life after college through academic achievement,” NCAA President Mark Emmert said. “To have nine national champions so far this year — including men’s and women’s basketball — be among those recognized illustrates that student-athletes succeed athletically and academically.”

According to the NCAA, APR scores measure eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provide a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport.

This year’s public recognition awards and APR scores reflect the four year period from 2013-14 to 2016-17.

Four women’s volleyball teams were recognized for earning a Public Recognition Award in each of the 13 years of the APR program: Lehigh, Northern Iowa, Northwestern and Western Kentucky.

No men’s programs made that list, however six garnered Public Recognition Awards alongside 27 beach teams and 88 women’s indoor squads.
