#1 USC Beach Sweeps Stanford For 56th-Straight Win (4/18)

Tuesday’s lineup of NCAA beach volleyball games didn’t leave much of a thrill for last-minute decisions: all three games were 3-0 sweeps, as #1 USC, #10 FIU, and Louisiana-Monroe all cruised to victories.

For the Trojans, that marked their 56th-straight victory as the Trojans are coming off a 10-day layoff. Only 11 of their 26 wins this season have been sweeps, though those have been coming more frequently in the last few weeks as USC has gotten their young lineup settled in.

Out east, Florida International, who lept 4 spots to tie for 10th in the latest AVCA National Rankings, kept their momentum going with a 5-0 win over a solid FGCU team that is 13-7 this season.

The Panthers are now done with regular season play at 21-12; while last year, 12 losses would’ve basically eliminated them from NCAA competition, with the top teams in the country all stacking their schedules much deeper this season, the Panthers still have a chance if they perform well in this weekend’s CCSA conference tournament – especially given their strong finish to the season.
