#16 LMU Goes 3-0, #19 Saint Mary’s Splits In Thursday Beach Matchups

Thursday night beach action saw #16 Loyola Marymount win their three final home matches while #19 Saint Mary’s split their matches.

Loyola Marymount is now 4-0 on the week, as they took down CSUN 4-1 on Wednesday evening. The Lion’s #3 and #4 pairings each went 3-0 on the night, including Savannah Slattery who partnered with Paige Panter in the team’s final match against Vanguard instead of her normal partner McKayla Ferris.

The Lions matches against Concordia and Vanguard were a breeze at 5-0 while they struggled against #19 Saint Mary’s in a 3-2 battle. At the #1 spot, Ferris/Slattery took three sets to down Payton Rund/Madison Baumann while #3Veronica Nederend/Emma Doud and #4 Bozena Culo/Maddie Leiphardt helped secure the team’s victory.

Saint Mary’s rallied following their loss to Loyola Marymount, by taking down Concordia in a 5-0 decision. None of the games extended into deciding sets, with the team changing up their line up from the previous match. Morgan Hughes played with Rund at the #1 position against Concordia while Baumann played back at the #5 slot with Alex O’Sullivan.
