The fourth-ranked Florida State beach volleyball team looks to defend its Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) crown this weekend as the Seminoles earned the top seed for the second straight season.

“It is a tough draw being either the first, second, third or fourth seed,” senior Sierra Sanchez said. “It is a tough tournament. I think it is a good way to be recognized for what we have done all year. We have had a tough schedule and we do have a few tough loses, so I think by getting that number one seed is really nice. It shows that we have been working really hard and do deserve it.”

The Noles are set to begin play Friday morning as they will take on No. 9 seed UNCW (9 a.m.) and will wrap up the first day of pool play with a match against No. 8 seed Tulane (12 p.m.). Florida State is a perfect 9-0 all-time against its two Friday opponents including a 5-0 win against Tulane (Mar. 31) in Miami, Fla.

The Seminoles will wrap up pool play on Saturday as they face off against fourth-seeded South Carolina at 9 a.m. and finish off Pool A with a match against fifth-seeded FIU at 12 p.m. The Garnet and Gold are 4-0 against these two teams this season, defeating each one once on the road and once in Tallahassee.

The top two teams from each pool will advance into the semifinals on Sunday at 9 a.m with the winners facing off at 1 p.m. on ESPN3.
