After two weeks of the Russian Super League, six teams remain undefeated but four-time defending champion Zenit Kazan is proving to be the team to beat once again. Despite playing without Matt Anderson, who competed for the United States at the World Grand Champions Cup, Kazan has rolled to two straight set victories over Yaroslavich and Ural Mountains.
Belogorie, who will be hosting the upcoming Russian Cup, has also recorded two victories, first in four sets against Yugra Samotlor, then in straight sets against about Torch. Other teams to record two victories in the first two weekends include: Lokomotiv, Kuzbass, Nova and the newly formed Zenit St. Petersburg.
Dynamo Moscow, who won the silver medal in 2016 and 2017, has gotten off to a slow start, dropping a four set contest to Zenit St. Petersburg and a five setter to Kuzbass.
After two matches, Romanas Shkulyavichus (Nova) is the leading scorer of the league with 71 points, collecting 37 points against Torch and 34 against Dynamo-LO. Aleksandr Volkov has collected nine blocks in two matches, leading the league.
