Oklahoma has made a late addition to its 2018 roster with the season approaching in defensive specialist/libero Haley Sanchez out of Bakersfield College. Sanchez will be a junior for the 2018 season with two years left of play and is immediately eligible for the fall.
In her two seasons at Bakersfield College, Sanchez helped the Renegades win a share of the WSC-South Conference Championship. That was after she notched 4.26 digs per set, 1.38 assists per set and 0.53 aces per set as she was the Western State Conference Libero of the Year. As a freshman she also tacked on 1.82 digs per set and 0.32 aces per set.
It’s actually the third transfer addition for the Sooners this offseason leading into 2018. Sanchez now joins former Tennessee defensive specialist/libero Keyton Kinley, 2017 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year and ex-Oregon State setter Kylee McLaughlin and former Memphis middle blocker Brianna Kadiku.
Oklahoma finished the 2017 season at 7-22 overall and 4-12 as a member of the Big 12 as they welcome on new head coach Lindsey Gray-Walton. Their 2018 season begins on August 24 against Xavier before rounding out the opening weekend against Xavier and DePaul.
