With a ferocious season that led his team to their second consecutive NCAA National Title, Ohio State’s Nicolas Szerszen has earned the VolleyMob Men’s Player of the Year.
Szerszen was a consistent threat to all of his opponents this season. On the year, Szerszen put down a team-best 440 kills on a .389 hitting percentage, 195 digs, 45 blocks and a national-leading 75 aces.
He also ranked in the top-10 in a number of statistical categories:
- #1 with .64 aces per set
- #7 with a .389 hitting percentage
- #9 with 4.58 points per set
- #10 with 3.73 kills per set
After such an astounding season, Szerszen earned a number of accolades for his performances throughout the year. For the second straight season, Szerszen was named the MIVA Player of the Year and is now a three-time recipient to the MIVA All-Conference First Team. In addition, he is a two-time First Team All-American honoree.
Szerszen helped to lead the Buckeyes to their second consecutive NCAA Championship this season, after taking down BYU in three sets in the finals. At the NCAA Tournament, Szerszen was named the most outstanding player.
