Pitt head women’s volleyball coach Dan Fisher has received a new 5-year extension that will take him through at least the 2022 college volleyball season. This comes on the tail of a two-year contract extension that Fisher signed in March of 2017, which still had one year remaining.

Fisher’s new contract comes on the heels of his team’s 26-7 season last year, including an 18-2 record in the ACC that earned them a first-ever ACC conference title. The Panthers have also qualified for back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances, their first such run since the 2003 and 2004 seasons. In 5 seasons, Fisher has a 118-45 (.724) record. He was named the 2017 ACC Coach of the Year.

Pitt has already been named the pre-season favorites in the ACC by the conference’s coaches’ poll, and 19th in VolleyMob’s pre-season top 25 rankings.

Since coming to Pitt, Fisher also served as the head coach for the U.S. National Team that won gold at the 2015 Pan Am Games and bronze at  the 2016 Pan Am Cup.

Fisher has previous stops on his resume as the h ead coach of the Concordia women from 2011-2012, the associate head coach of the Hawaii men from 2009-2011, assistant women’s coach at San Francisco from 2007-2009, and assistant men’s head coach for the University of the Pacific from 2004-2007.

Terms of the new contract were not released.

Pitt opens their 2018 season next week with their annual Blue-Gold scrimmage before playing their first official match against Ohio University, on the road, on August 18th. The Panthers only play two top-25 opponents in the pre-season: #24 Cal Poly on August 24th and #14 Washington on September 8th.
