Another #1: Cal State San Bernardino Headlines AVCA DII Poll

Cal State San Bernardino became the 5th program to earn a No. 1 distinction in the AVCA Division II Poll release on Monday. The Coyotes, who were ranked 2nd in last week’s poll, collected 28 first place votes and 1,152 points to take over the top spot.

Pool A: Sweeps All Around Monday at FIVB Worlds

Pool A action on Monday at the 2018 FIVB World Championship was very competitive, however, the results all game in straight sets for Germany, Netherlands and Japan. The Netherlands is alone atop the standings in Pool A with a 3-0 mark and 8 points.

Pac-12: Trio Earn Sunday Conference Upsets

It was an exciting Sunday in the Pac-12, as Utah, Arizona and Arizona State played their way to upset victories. 9th-ranked USC and 22nd-ranked Washington State also collected wins to round out the conference weekend.

Hawaii Cruises by UC Riverside 3-0

Hawaii earned its 4th in in a row and its 2nd consecutive sweep with a 3-0 victory over UC Riverside in Honolulu Saturday evening. The Rainbow Wahine outperformed the Highlanders in attack percentage (.184 to -.022) and served up 7 aces to record the one-sided win.

Samantha Seliger-Swenson Joins 1,000-Career Digs Club

Senior Samantha Seliger-Swenson surpassed the 1,000-career digs mark with 13 in Minnesota’s sweep of Indiana on the road Saturday night. The 5-11 setter has 1,021 digs in her career, notching 273 as a freshman, 301 as a sophomore, 333 as a junior and 114 so far in 2018.

Big Ten Volleyball: Maryland’s 5-Set Thriller Highlights Saturday Play

A lot went down in Big Ten volleyball action Saturday night, as Maryland downed Ohio State in 5 sets, 5th-ranked Nebraska ended 4th-ranked Illinois’ perfect start with a 4-set win and Michigan State got back on track with a 4-set win over Rutgers. 7th-ranked Minnesota and 3rd-ranked Wisconsin swept by Indiana and 20th-ranked Purdue, respectively.

Pool C: #2 USA Sweeps, #5 Russia Survives on Day 2

2nd-ranked USA cruised by 34th-ranked Trinadad and Tobago in straight sets, while 5th-ranked Russia outlasted 16th-ranked Thailand in 5 sets to move to 2-0 in Pool C at the 2018 FIVB World Championships on Saturday. 24th-ranked Azerbaijan earned its first victory inside Kobe Green Arena, downing 10th-ranked South Korea in 4 sets to move to 1-1 in pool play.

Big West: #15 Cal Poly, Hawaii Sweep Past Conference Competition

15th-ranked Cal Poly and Hawaii are still perfect against Big West Conference competition after Saturday sweeps. UC Davis was also victorious, recovering from an 0-2 deficit to outlast UC Santa Barbara in 5 sets.

#5 Nebraska Halts #4 Illinois Saturday

5th-ranked Nebraska put a stop to 4th-ranked Illinois’ perfect season with a win in 4 sets on Saturday night in Champaign, Ill. The Huskers, who have won 6-straight against the Fighting Illini, are now on a 12-match win streak.
