7th-ranked Italy rallied all the way back for a 3-1 upset victory after dropping the opening set to top-ranked China. The Italians complete pool play with a perfect 5-0 mark, while the Chinese drop to 4-1 heading to the second round of FIVB World Championship action.

Pool A: #8 Netherlands Flies into FIVB Round 2 at 5-0

8th-ranked Netherlands finished strong in pool play with a sweep of 26th-ranked Mexico and will enter the second round with an undefeated 5-0 mark. 6th-ranked Japan came in second in Pool A, wrapping play at 4-1 following its 3-0 win over 13th-ranked Germany.
