Badger Region Names 79 Players to High Performance Training Squads

USA Volleyball’s Badger Region has named 79 players to its regional HIgh Performance Program. That includes 18 players for the BOys National Youth team, 30 for the Girls’ International Youth team, and 31 for the Girls’ National Select Team.

The region, which has jurisdiction over USA Volleyball activities in the state of Wisconsin, held tryouts on March 17th (girls only) and March 24th (boys, and girls’ make-up date). These programs are an introductory step into the USA Volleyball High Performance Program and serve as regional branches there-of.

Players selected to the teams receive specialized high-level training and skill development with the region’s top coaches. Teams are also sent to participate in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships, which is a significant opportunity for those athletes to gain experience and receive exposure to college coaches at what is billed as the “highest level junior tournament available in the United States.”

The Badger Region this year is fielding one goys’ beam in the National Division (for boys born 1999 or later), and those players will participate in two training sessions in Milwaukee on April 23rd and May 13th.

A 12-player team (10 active and 2 alternates) will be selected from those 18 and invited to a High Performance Camp at Carthage College in preparation for the High Performance Championships in Ft. Lauderdale from July 18-22.

The region will sponsor two girls’ teams – an International Youth team (born 2000 or after) and a National Select team (born 2002 or after). The International Youth team has 30 members and the National Select team has 31.

20 players from each group will be selected for the High Performance Training Teams, who will attend a training camp from July 5th-7th. From those camps, two 10-player rosters will attend a team training session on July 16th before leaving for the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Ft. Lauderdale from July 18-22.
