Turkish middle blocker Bahar Toksoy has a new club, but not necessarily a new address. The 6’2″ National Teamer has been transferred from Eczacabasi to Fenerbahce: both teams located in Istanbul and playing in the top tier of the Turkish women’s league.

Toksoy has signed a 1.5 year contract with her new club, finalizing a rare transfer between two of the three best clubs in the Turkish league. Eczacibasi currently sits 2nd in the table and Fenerbahce 3rd, with both chasing league leaders Vakifbank. Fenerbahce recently won the Turkish Cup (for both men and women). Toksoy previously played with Vakifbank for 8 seasons, giving her a taste of each of the country’s three powerhouses. She’s married to current VakifBank, and Turkish National Team, head coach Giovanni Guidetti.

The 28-year old Toksoy played on the primary Turkish Women’s National Team from 2008-2012, where she won bronze medals at the 2010 European League, 2011 European Championships, and in the 2012 World Grand Prix. She’s played her entire professional career in Turkey, aside from one season spent in Italy with Scandicci in 2015.

Toksoy wasn’t on her team’s side in their latest came, played Saturday, which was a 3-0 win over Sariyer. She will get her next chance on January 28th when the team plays Besiktas, and then will have her first shot against her former side Eczaibasi on February 4th.
