After ending his collegiate career a year early, Ben Patch has officially selected the club he will begin his professional career with – Vibo Valenti in the Italian Serie A1 league.
Last season, Vibo Valenti finished eighth in the standings of the Italian league with 11 wins on the season and 15 losses. The addition of Patch gives the team potential to move up in the rankings next season.
Currently, Patch is playing the United States in the FIVB World League, helping the team to the Final Six in Brazil. In the tournament, Patch has been a huge contributor for Team USA, having posted 126 points so far in the tournament. Of those 126 points, 111 have been kills with 14 block and one ace, ranking seventh overall.
In the 2017 season, Patch played with BYU, who finished second behind Ohio State for the second season in a row. It was an up and down season for Patch, as he was riddled with an injury mid-season that left him out of a large chunk of the season. Despite missing nearly 40 sets of action in the 2017 season, Patch was still a dominant factor for the team with 222 kills for an average of 4.27 kills per set, ranking third on the team.
In addition to his professional volleyball career, Patch is also a professional photographer, having nearly 100,000 followers on his Instagram.
