Minnesota remained perfect atop the Big Ten standings at 10-0 with a four-set win over Nebraska, although the Huskers were the first team to take a set off the Gophers at home this season.

Penn State, Illinois and Michigan all held rank in sweep of Rutgers, Michigan State and Northwestern respectively.

Notables

  • Minnesota won its 11th-straight match, including 10 in a row in the Big Ten, to cement its spot atop the standings at 10-0.
  • Nebraska lost its third straight match. The last time the Huskers dropped three in a row was in the 2016 Final Four and in the first two matches of 2017. The last time the team lost three in a row in a season was in 1997 (Oct. 8-17 vs. Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas).
  • Adanna Rollins notched a match-high 20 kills and 14 digs, while hitting .404 to pace the Minnesota attack. Stephanie Samedy added 13 kills and 10 digs, while Samantha Seliger-Swenson chipped in 47 assists and 13 digs.
  • Mikaela Foecke posted 17 kills, 10 digs and two aces to lead the Huskers.
  • Penn State won its eighth straight match and move to 8-2 in the Big Ten with its second sweep of Rutgers this week.
  • The Nittany Lions outhit Rutgers .379 to .227, including a .542 effort in Set 2. PSU outdid the Scarlet Knights 46-35 in kills, 5-1 in aces and 6-3 in blocks.
  • Nia Reed notched 11 kills on a .474 hitting effort for Penn State, while Jonni Parker (10) and Taylor Leath (10) followed. Sahbria McLetchie was the top hitter for Rutgers with 11 putaways.
  • Illinois hit .276 or better in all three sets of its sweep of Michigan State. The Illini outhit the Spartans .327 to .198 for the match and also boasted a 5-2 lead in aces and a 50-34 edge in kills.
  • Jacqueline Quade (14), Ali Bastianelli (11), Beth Prince (10) and Megan Cooney (9) shared the offensive load for Illinois. Prince hit just .083 for the match, but the other three hit .333 or better, including Bastianelli’s .438 clip.
  • Alyssa Chronowski was the lone Spartan player to reach double-digit kills with 11 on a .263 hitting effort to go with three blocks.
  • Michigan served up eight aces to keep Northwestern off balance, while outhitting the Wildcats .294 to .101 for the match. NU struggled to a -.036 effort in Set 3 (9 kills, 10 errors in 28 swings).
  • Paige Jones was the only player to reach 10 kills in the match, turning in 12 for the Wolverines, while hitting .450 and serving up three aces. Kayla Blair paced the team at the net with six blocks.
  • Abryanna Cannon and Nia Robinson were tops for the Wildcats offensively with eight kills apiece, although neither hit better than .143.
