#11 BALL STATE DEF. EMMANUEL COLLEGE 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-12)

MUNCIE, Ind.– Ball State defeated Emmanuel College on Saturday night in Worthen Arena. The Cardinals managed an impressive .429 hitting percentage on the match.

Ball State setter, Courtland Scharenbor, ran the offense for the Tigers with 29 assists and five digs. Ben Chinnici led the team in kills, putting away 12 balls on a .455 clip and scooping up four digs. Matt Szews also had an impressive offensive performance with 10 kills and three errors on 17 attempts for a .412 hitting percentage. The team posted 7 blocks.

Don Thompson fueled the Emmanuel offense with five kills. He was fed by setter, Demitrius Maloney, who recorded 16 assists. Caleb Bonaventure posted a team-high seven digs for the Lions.

#20 UCSD DEF. KING 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 26-28, 25-21)

LOS ANGELES, Calif.– UCSD defeated King on Saturday in the Wooden Classic hosted by UCLA. This is the first time since 1996 that the Tritons have started 2-0.

UCSD setter, Milosh Stojcic, ran the offense for the Tritons with 36 assists. Tanner Syftestad led the team in kills, putting away 22 balls on a .356 clip. Alec Flowers also had an impressive offensive performance with eight kills and zero errors on 12 attempts for a .667 hitting percentage. The team posted 11.5 blocks.

Kiel Bell fueled the King offense with 17 kills. He was fed by setter, Nick Drooker, who recorded 45 assists. The team posted 40 digs and seven blocks.

#7 HAWAII DEF. #14 USC 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-22)

HONOLULU– Hawaii swept USC on Saturday in the Texaco Rainbow Warrior Classic in the Stan Sheriff Center at Hawaii. Joe Worsley of the Warriors was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.

UH setter, Worsley, ran the offense for the Warriors with 36 assists. Stijn Van Tilburg led the team in kills, putting away 14 balls on a .684 clip. Brett Rosenmeier also had an impressive offensive performance with eight kills and two errors on 13 attempts for a .462 hitting percentage. The team posted 8 blocks.

Gianluca Grasso fueled the USC offense with 13 kills. He was fed by setters, Gert Lisha and Chris Hall, who recorded 16 and 13 assists, respectively. The team posted 17 digs on the night.

#1 OHIO STATE DEF. NGU 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22)

COLUMBUS, Ohio– Ohio State swept NGU on Saturday in St. John Arena. Thirteen Buckeyes saw the floor during the match.

Sanil Thomas delivered 32 assists and Reese Devilbiss put away 11 kills hitting .500. Nicolas Szerszen led the defense with eight digs. The Buckeyes came away from the match with 31 digs and four blocks.

Jackson Gilbert led the offense for NGU with six kills, hitting .214. Defensively, Dustin King led the way with five digs. Jake Boldog accounted for 20 of 21 assists for the Crusaders.

#3 BYU DEF. #5 LEWIS 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-15, 25-15)

PROVO, Utah– BYU defeated Lewis on Saturday in the Smith Fieldhouse. The Cougars out blocked the Flyers 18-7.

BYU setter, Leo Durkin, ran the offense for the Cougars with 40 assists and 4 digs. Storm Fa’agata-Tufug led the team in kills, putting away 13 balls on a .500 clip. Price Jarman also had an impressive offensive performance with six kills and zero errors on 10 attempts for a .600 hitting percentage. The team posted 20 total digs.

Kyle Bugee fueled the Lewis offense with 11 kills. He was fed by setter, Ryan Van Loo, who recorded 26 assists.

#4 UCLA DEF. MCKENDREE 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 29-27)

LOS ANGELES, Calif.– UCLA swept McKendree on Saturday in the John Wooden Classic.

UCLA setter, Micah Ma’a, ran the offense for the Bruins with 37 assists and three digs. Jake Arnitz led the team in kills, putting away 13 balls on a .476 clip. The team posted 6.5 blocks.

Ethan Carroll fueled the McKendree offense with seven kills. He was fed by setter, Pasquale Fiduccia, who recorded 21 assists. The back row was controlled by, Zach Thompson, as he dug up 11.
