2017 NORCECA MEN’S WORLD QUALIFIER

The Canadian Men’s National Team is bringing in nearly the same lineup they used in their tremendous 2017 FIVB World League run to the 2017 NORCECA Men’s World Qualifier. The two new additions to the squad are Max Burt and Bryan Duquette.

The Canadian squad made a great run at the World League this summer, finishing in third place over a youthful American squad. In the final six, John Gordon Perrin pounded down 54 points in the teams bronze medal run, while newbie Sharone Vernon-Evans added 53. Graham Vigrass wasn’t too far behind with 46 points. Both Vigrass and the team’s libero, Blair Bann earned Final Six honors at the World League, with Vigrass earning Best Middle Blocker and Bann Best Libero.

In NORCECA, Canada is ranked #2 behind Team USA, but with the defeat in the World League, the two teams could be battling for the top spot.

The top three finishers at the qualifier will earn their ticket to the 2018 World Championships. The Canadians should make a decent push at the qualifier, with them expected to pick up a bid to the World Championships.

Canada will start off with St. Lucia followed by Trinidad and Tobago in pool play. From there the team’s will move on to either the quarterfinals or classification matches.
