Chinese Taipei, Korea & Japan Ride Momentum in Asian Quarterfinals

2017 Asian Men’s Senior Championships

Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Korea and Japan went 2-0 in classification matches as the Asian Men’s Championships head to the quarterfinal and ninth through 16th placings rounds.

Chinese Taipei, Korea and Japan will carry the momentum on to the quarterfinal, while Thailand will play in the ninth through 12th place portion of the bracket.

On the final day of classification, Chinese Taipei topped China in four sets, Japan swept Indonesia and Korea edged Kazakhstan in four. Thailand registered a sweep of Pakistan.

In the quarterfinals, Chinese Taipei plays Kazakhstan, Japan faces Australia, Korea takes on China and Iran battles Indonesia with the winners advancing to the semifinals on Monday.

Chinese Taipei def. China 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-20)

Qatar def. Vietnam 3-1 (25-22, 25-15, 19-25, 27-25)

Iran def. Australia 3-1 (25-11, 25-19, 22-25, 25-17)

Thailand def. Pakistan 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-23)

Korea def. Kazakhstan 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-13)

Saudi Arabia def. Sri Lanka 3-1 (25-17, 27-25, 19-25, 25-23)

Japan def. Indonesia 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-12)

Iraq def. Hong Kong 3-1 (25-13, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19)
